Psychological distress in relation to blood pressure among Andhra Pradesh state road transport corporation bus drivers, Vijayawada

Background: One of the major health problem worldwide is elevated blood pressure (BP). Prior research had shown that hypertensives experience psychological distress, although pre-hypertensives have not yet been subject to this research. Objectives were assess risk factors increasing BP among bus drivers and distress in relation levels. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted Bus aged above 20 years, carried out between July October 2022, a sample 135 taken. Inferential statistics such as Pearson Chi square test an unpaired independent-sample t-test used difference pre-hypertensive hypertensive individuals on GHQ score. Results: In present (n=135), 47% normotensive, 34% stage 19% stage. On assessment mean (General questionnaire) GHQ-12 found be 17.57 17.86 pre-hypertensives. Two tailed significance value 0.768 observed indicating significant effects.
